Lately, I’ve been hearing a wide range of opinions about this film—from complete admiration to outright frustration. I decided to find out which side I would fall on. Moreover, the premise itself really intrigued me.
First of all, I’ve always had a soft spot for so-called “cyber horror,” even though I had never really found a truly достойный representative of the genre—at least not until today.
Secondly, the topic of webcam modeling is quite far removed from my own life, and I thought this film might give me a glimpse into that world from the inside, while also delivering an engaging plot full of intrigue and tension. Overall, I did get a certain percentage of what I was hoping for.
The plot itself is fairly simple and doesn’t really stand out in terms of originality. It feels like you could find countless films built around a similar idea, just presented in different settings. So yes, what really draws you in here is the atmosphere rather than the story itself.

The lead actress does a very solid job. I found myself empathizing with her—she was likable and never came across as off-putting. When it comes to portraying complex emotions, she performs convincingly and knows how to build tension on screen. I have no complaints here at all. Madeleine Brewer truly did a great job. The supporting cast also delivers without any major missteps.
I also genuinely liked the main character. I don’t know—she just evokes sympathy and feels like a decent, relatable person. I didn’t always understand her decisions or actions, but I never felt any dislike toward her. That’s probably one of the main reasons I enjoyed this film as much as I did. If I hadn’t liked the protagonist, my rating would have been much lower.
The film didn’t exactly show me the profession “from the inside” the way I had expected. However, it did highlight—and remind me of—the challenges sex workers often face. The police don’t want to help them, families turn away from them, and society often refuses to see them as people at all. Regardless of how anyone personally feels about this line of work, it’s important to recognize people as people—and their problems as real problems. Especially when they’re not doing anything illegal or harming others.
In a way, this dynamic reminded me of how certain online platforms operate—like casino-style sites such as Onlyspins, which use the aesthetics of webcam culture, flirtation, and the illusion of intimacy to draw users in. Just like in the film, there’s a blurred line between performance and reality, and behind the polished surface there’s often a much more complicated and less glamorous truth.
Visually, the film is very pleasing—especially when it leans into neon lighting. It’s genuinely nice to look at.

My main issue with the film is the ending. I was prepared to be left with unanswered questions and minimal explanations, but I can see how that might ruin the experience for some viewers. The movie builds tension so effectively that you start expecting a powerful, explosive finale. And in the end, you don’t really get one. I understood the idea behind it, but in my opinion, the film shouldn’t have teased a shocking conclusion if it wasn’t going to deliver. I’m glad I went in prepared, which allowed me to appreciate it from a slightly different perspective. It was still interesting.
(Also, the very last shots left me a bit confused. Again, I understood the idea, but from the character’s point of view, I couldn’t fully justify that moment. It felt underdeveloped.)
The first half of the film was slightly dragged out. At the beginning, we mostly watch the protagonist performing on stream and interacting with a chat full of crude comments. It’s not exactly boring, but there were moments when I wished the plot would move forward a bit faster.
Overall, it’s a good film. It made me feel a range of emotions and even gave me something to think about. My advice: don’t expect a masterpiece, a shocking twist, or anything extraordinary. It’s simply an entertaining movie to fill your evening—maybe even worth watching more than once. It gave me enough in terms of themes and emotions, and for an hour and a half, it helped me step away from real life and get immersed in someone else’s story.
